Cloud-syncing stability

We now have more users & files than ever, and realized that this much activity was causing our cloud-syncing server to sometimes drop connection randomly. This was causing data to not appear to be the same across two devices due to a delay in the connection. We re-wrote how our cloud-syncing works by isolating the syncing to a completely separate server that has higher performance. This solution has given Cinapse:

  • More stable connection to the cloud, so that changes sync more reliably & faster

  • Faster file-loading times

  • Faster data-upload to the cloud

  • Fixed bug where larger files couldn’t be Duplicated

Bug fixes

Assortment of bug fixes:

  • A few of our customers have had very strange “duplicate” strips bug where if you select one strip, it also selects the other. If you delete these “bad duplicates” it leaves a thin horizontal blank strip in your file that stay in the file and can’t be interacted with. This was also causing drag & drop around these “bad duplicates” to behave strangely and drop strips where you don’t expect it to. We believe this bug might be related to the cloud-syncing stability mentioned above, and hope that the solution we built will resolve this issue.

Please email us if you still manage to accidentally create more of these “bad duplicates.”

If you still have these “bad duplicates” in your file, here is a temporary workaround that cleans up your file.

    1. First — click on the “bad duplicate” strip.
    2. Use the hotkey “CMD+D” to duplicate it.
    3. This will now create two (2) new strips that should be unlinked from each other.
    4. Delete only one (1) of the newly created strips, keep the other one to preserve the data.
    5. Now, select and delete the “bad duplicate” strip.
    6. After deleting the “bad duplicate”, you will notice a thin blank horizontal line in your board that can’t be deleted. Repeat steps 1 - 5 with all the “bad duplicates” in your board first. Then come back to step 7 once you’re ready to clean-up the entire board of these blank horizontal lines.
    7. Go to Stripboard Manager
    8. Duplicate the board that has all the blank horizontal lines
    9. Go check the newly created board — it should be clean and ready to work in again.

↑ ↑ ↑ Example of a “bad duplicate” strip

  • Fixed issue where Scriptation importer did not import Cast that were tagged as “Minors”

  • Fixed issue where Scriptation importer was ignoring scenes that did not have scene numbers.

  • Added tooltip and hint-text to Element manager buttons

  • Swapped out icons for Reports and Events Manager

  • Changed the “Create new file” menu to force users to explicitly select “Episodic” or “Feature” file type, so that users don’t accidentally create the wrong kind if they didn’t notice that setting previously.
