Version 1.2

More speed. Faster data-entry user experience.

New Features

More speed

We’ve continued to push new technical updates that improve speed.

We are aware that users with larger files (more strips, more elements) are experiencing some lag when inputting data. Our founders have spent the past week building a complex schedule file with over 1000+ strips to really investigate and experience the lag first-hand — and we have a better sense now of where the problem areas are. We are fully dedicating our engineers on increasing speed until we ourselves are satisfied with the snappiness of the app.

Here’s what we did this week to improve speed:

Upgrade Automerge. We upgraded our real-time collaboration and auto-saving library to the latest version to increase performance.

Undo/redo history rework. Previously, we had no limit on the undo/redo history of your file — which would cause more noticeable lag the longer you worked continuously in the file. We’ve limited the undo history to the past 20 changes for now to test if this increases performance. *** For all users who are experiencing lag — try refreshing your page periodically and see if re-loading the page improves speed.

Redesigned how “snapshots” of your file are saved to your local machine. Our app periodically saves ‘snapshots’ of your entire file and stores it on your local machine. We’ve re-engineered this process so that this saving process doesn’t slow down your machine.

Breakdown sheet user experience improvements

Based on customer feedback and our own testing, we have updated the breakdown sheet experience to add some new features and fix some bugs:

  • SET sort. Has been corrected to be A>Z Alphabetical sort.

  • DAY/NIGHT sort. Has been corrected to display D1, then N1, then D2, then N2.

  • Element chips now in vertical list. Now lists one element per row. This was requested by many customers as it is easier to visually tell the difference between one breakdown sheet vs. another sheet when the elements are displayed in a vertical list.

  • Element chips text-color = black. Improves legibility, especially with certain color palettes.

  • “Element already exists” error. This error state was incorrectly showing up when inputting elements. We fixed it.

  • Category name font size. Improves legibility.

  • Selected strips have thicker blue border. The currently selected strip has a thicker border now.

  • Added “k” to display when adding Minors to cast section. Finished our implementation of the Minor checkbox adding “k” throughout the app to the Cast ID. The “k” should appear now in the Elements section, Element Manager, DooD, Reports, and in the dropdown menu when inputting Cast Elements to the breakdown sheet.

Customer requested features / bug fixes

  • NEW shortcut: Move strip to top / move strip to bottom. Added this feature when you right-click on a strip in the Stripboard. Creates a shortcut for you to move newly duplicated strips down to the end of the stripboard without dragging & dropping.

  • Daybreak text-color has been fixed. Customer found a bug where the text-color on daybreaks would always appear as ‘white’ even if you customized the palette to display the text as black. Was a bug, we found it and fixed it.

  • Coming soon: Re-design of the “unscheduled strips” area in the stripboard. The unscheduled strip section at the bottom of the stripboard is currently behaving strangely. We are going to redesign this so that it lives at the bottom of the list, and so the stripboard is ONE continuous scrolling list. This is a problem we have identified ourselves, as when building out a file it’s finicky to drag & drop a strip to the end of the stripboard right now. Also, we’re aware when you add new strips to the bottom of the stripboard, sometimes it is hidden underneath the Unscheduled section. We’re working on getting a fix for this in the next release, next week.

Scheduling PRO features (still hidden to users, as it’s a work in progress)

  • My Productions. We’re a new tab to the Home Page called “My Productions”. This will be a “folder” that allows you and your team to all work in one shared space and publish files to each other. This will come with the PRO license (two tiers — AD Team license and Entire Production license). More details to come in the next few weeks. We’re almost done!

  • Create a Production. Added ability to create a production.

  • Production members. Added page to manage list of all users invited to your production and control their permission level.
